What's Up with Adobe Flash Player 10?

By steve - Posted on 10 March 2009

All of a sudden, I've had multiple clients calling me today with problems from upgrading, or trying to upgrade, Adobe Flash. They can't seem to uninstall it from Add/Remove Applications in the Control Panel and then re-install it.

So far, though I don't know the cause, I've found a quick solution...

Basically, you have to find the Adobe Flash uninstaller tool and run it, then reinstall.

If the user is running with reduced rights (and why aren't they?), you'll need to do this as administrator:

Go to this kb article and click the link to the Windows or Mac version, depending of course on the type of system you are fixing.

You can go here directly for the Windows version.

Save it to the desktop or wherever.

Close all your browser windows.

Run it.

Download the flash player here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

Install it.

That should do it.

If anybody finds out why there is, all of a sudden, a problem, please leave a comment and let me know why, I'd appreciate it.
